Friday – check into your hotel, head to happy hour, end the night with dinner under the stars

Sweet, work is over! Head to the posh Omni William Penn Hotel for your weekend stay—they’re offering some great summer deals for rooms. With its centralized location, it’s easy to get wherever you need to this weekend. Check in then get ready to head out to happy hour.

Kaya, located at 2000 Smallman St. in the Strip District, is home to tropical and Caribbean-inspired drinks. They’re also known as one of the best bars and happy hours in the city. Featured drinks this summer include a grapefruit-basil margarita and traditional Caipirinha.

After happy hour, grab an Uber (or walk the 1.2 miles) to Sienna Mercato to dine under the stars. The “Italian with a twist” option offers outdoor seating and delicious woodfire pizza like parmesan and peppers or a tasty Margherita pizza. Their rooftop beer garden is a must try.

Saturday – tour Wigle Whiskey, cool off at Sandcastle, end the night at Cinema in the Park

Enjoy a morning breakfast inside the Omni at the Terrace Room then get your walking shoes (and bathing suit!) ready for a day of fun. Begin with a late morning tour at Wigle Whiskey (they begin at 11 a.m.) and check out their distillery on Smallman St.

Run back to the hotel to change into your bathing suit for your trip to Sandcastle Waterpark with 15 waterslides, a wave pool and lazy river—fun for the whole family! The park offers family, military, children and senior discounts too.

After your day in the sun at Sandcastle, head back to the Omni to change and get ready for some dinner. Head over to Texas de Brazil, a delicious all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse in Station Square. Enjoy menu items like filet mignon wrapped in bacon, Brazilian cheese bread and more.

After dinner, walk over to the Incline and take a ride up to Mt. Washington and end the night at Cinema in the Park at Grandview Park on Bailey Ave. Movies in July and August include Alice Through the Looking Glass, Moana and the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast.

Sunday – grab some brunch and get ready to head home

Brunch in Pittsburgh is unlike any other city. It’s worth grabbing a delicious Sunday brunch before heading home from your staycation. Meat and Potatoes offers an incredible Bloody Mary (seriously, it’s stuffed with bacon, olives, you name it) and delicious pancakes, the omelet of the day and even a Pittsburgh staple—the sticky bun.

If you’d rather not have a boozy brunch, The Abbey on Butler Street in Lawrenceville is drool-worthy. A yummy start to your Sunday, the brunch is served buffet-style with a make your own waffle station and an omelet station (not to mention thick-cut bacon and pierogies to die for!).

+++++++++++++

Enjoy your staycation! Let us know if you give it a try!
