It’s the weekend, and we all know unwinding is a great college tradition… really! Here’s some things to do at Pitt this weekend to help you …. uh…. relax!
Friday Sept. 29th
Donut Dash: This fourth annual race starts off in Schenley Plaza, from which participants run a mile, eat 6 donuts, then proceed to run another mile directly afterward. Help CMU’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon reach their goal of raising $500,000 for ALS Research for Pitt’s Brain Institute in five years.
UPTV 24 hour film festival: Writers, videographers, actors, and creatives sign up for this filmmaking micro-festival. Meet in room G8 of the Cathedral at 7pm on Friday to split into groups and create a short film in a day’s time. Reconvene at the same place, same time on Saturday for a screening of films.
Saturday Sept 30th
Pitt v. Rice: Head over to Heinz Field and watch the Pitt Panthers face off against Rice University this Saturday. Kickoff for game #5 starts at 12 pm, stadium gates open at 10 a.m.
Staghorn Poetry Series- Leslie Ann Mcllroy and Kristen Kovacic: Enjoy this reading by Mcillroy, author of Rare Space, and Kovacic, author of House of Women, for a peaceful reading at the Staghorn Garden Cafe (517 Greenfield Ave) at 4pm.
Sunday Oct. 1st
HEALing Yoga: Relieve your stress with this free, open yoga class sponsored by Project HEAL on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the O’Hara Student Center. Bring your own mat, $5 suggested donation.
Ron for Ronald 5k: Raise money for the Ronald McDonald House foundation along with Pitt’s Alpha Delta Pi for this 5k run through the trails of Schenley from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Schenley Park.
