Bridgeville

Bridgeville is a town located approximately 13 miles south of Pittsburgh.  It was incorporated in 1901.  Prior to that, it was the largest unincorporated village in Allegheny County.  This Pittsburgh suburb as originally part of St. Clair Township. Legend has it that Bridgeville, in the late 18th century, had only one bridge which crossed Chartiers Creek into the community, and the owner of the bridge decided to begin collecting tolls to cross.  The local population was not happy, of course, and decided that they would construct their own bridge.  This local landmark became a common meeting place and “meet at the bridge” became part of the local vernacular, and, you guessed it…  the village took the name Bridgeville.

Today, Bridgeville is an attractive and quaint place to live, with easy access to the Pittsburgh International Airport and a direct drive to downtown Pittsburgh. It’s small-town feel appeals to a diverse population, from families to young professionals and it provides affordable housing.  A thriving business district, athletic association and public library offer a variety of choices for shopping, eating and gathering.
