Sewickley

Sewickley

Sewickley, founded in 1853 is a borough located about 12 miles northwest of downtown Pittsburgh with a population of around 3,000. Pittsburgh’s steel barons of the era “escaped” the smog and pollution of downtown Pittsburgh and the mills by moving out and building large homes and farms in the area… many are still standing today.  The town was almost named “Sewickleyville.”  This Pittsburgh neighborhood is bordered by Edgeworth, Osborne and Sewickley Heights. Three of the 11 municipalities located near Sewickley all share the same post office and 15143 zip code. Sewickley is just across the Ohio River from Moon Twp.

Today, this beautiful area is known for it’s beautiful tree-lined streets and vibrant shopping district.
