Point Breeze

Point Breeze

A popular tavern at the corner of Greensburg Pike and Fourth Ave (now the corner of Fifth and Penn Avenues) was once known as Point Breeze, thus the neighborhood we know today grew around the establishment. Businessmen and industrialists, such as the Mellons, Scaifes and Hillmans, settled in stately, ivy-clad mansions near these well-traveled crossroads.

Point Breeze is adjacent to the Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Regent Square, Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, and the borough of Wilkinsburg.

The neighborhood is home to Henry Clay Frick’s Clayton, which is a part of the 5.5-acre Frick Art & Historical Center.  The neighborhood also contains plenty of inviting and relaxing green space… Westinghouse Park, Mellon Park, the scenic Homewood Cemetery as well as the northern edge of Frick Park within its borders.

Many large and stately homes occupy the streets of this stately Pittsburgh neighborhood, known for it’s beautiful foliage and quiet neighborhoods.
