Originally a country club and golf course, Stanton Heights did not become an actual Pittsburgh neighborhood until the 1950s. A large part of the current neighborhood was actually the Stanton Heights Golf Course, at the time the largest private golf club in the city of Pittsburgh. Located in the eastern part of Pittsburgh at the top of Stanton Avenue, Stanton Heights consists entirely of residential homes and quiet streets.
Stanton Heights’ primarily residential composition does not have a business district. However, it’s conveniently located between Downtown Pittsburgh and other shopping and dining areas in Lawrenceville, East Liberty, Bloomfield, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill.
Sunnyside Elementary is located in Stanton Heights, with Dinan Park behind the school. Stanton Heights also has a very active association, The Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association. Recently they completed a community rain garden.
